Tomlin McKinley is one the rare breed of djs who can't be stereotyped, having travelled many musical roads , playing ecletic sets a decade before they became fashionable. His twenty year dj career is testament to a man who is simply one of the most charismatic figures in the history of underground black music in Manchester.

The story begins with his father being amongst the first to set up sound systems in the rainy city during the sixties. Having reggae music in the family from childhood set Tomlin up on a very natural dj path. The first notable gigs were at two of Manchester's seminal black clubs,'The Reno' and 'The Gallery', playing heavy sets of American and Uk street soul. The success of of 'The Konspiracy', in partnership with dj Chris Nelson as 'The Jam MCs', a hugely popular alternative session to ' Nude ' night at the Haçienda . Building up his profile with the acid house generation substantially, spinning at numerous warehouse parties in England, as well as the infamous Blackburn Raves.

The wholly unique afterhours 'Kitchen' party in Hulme led to the Jam MCs becoming djs for the new global Madchester popstars ' The Happy Mondays', embarking on a world tour with the outlandish hedonists . His unique sets always created much respect amongst his fellow djs and the mixed crowds always reflected all races and classe. ' The Family Circle ' with Paula ' n' Tabs was another great party that took place through the nineties before joining the Rainy City label parties with a host of the world's top djs including Patrick forge , Mad Mats and Jazzanova. His current residencies spinning nu soul and hip hop at 'Buttamilk', 'Nice It On Up which sees him highlight the 'Trojan' and ' Studio One 'funky reggae roots at Ponana. ' Delve' in Brighton also continues the ' all flavours vibe ' that he has built his musical world around , over the last two decades.
