Strongroom 1 is quite simply one of the best traditional recording studios in Europe and has been the birthplace of many classic, critically acclaimed albums of the past 10 years. The room seamlessly blends traditional analogue with the latest digital systems to give our clients optimum quality audio.
The control room features the Neve VR60 Legend console with dynamic metering, full machine control, Encore, Total Recall and the much sought after Events upgrade. The Legend also possesses considerable enhancements over the standard VR console, including improved Mic and Mix amps and the installation of oxygen-free copper cabling to create superb sonic quality.
The studio has a large live room and overdub booth, both of which feature Jamie Reid's visuals. With its wooden floors and high ceiling, the live room provides the perfect ambient recording space for live bands, strings, brass, drums, vocals and piano. And as with all rooms at Strongroom, it is flooded with plenty of natural light. In the control room the VR60 lines up alongside equally prestigious monitors in the Boxer 5 system, powered by three custom Chevin amps. Strongroom has worked closely with Boxer to upgrade the monitors over the years, achieving a truly accurate sound within a range that's easy on the ears during long sessions.
The studio's patching system allows for over 100 balanced tie lines, MIDI, AES/EBU, video sync, word clock, gigabit ethernet, SCSI, cues and other sound and data signals, enabling clients with the most complex of sessions to dovetail seamlessly into a single studio.
The combination of Strongroom 1's technical attributes, Jamie Reid's stunning interiors, custom built furniture and exacting acoustics provides a uniquely creative room to mix and record in.

studio 2 |
|
Whilst twiddling our thumbs and seeking guidance from the Strongroom cat one dank evening, it occurred to us that a combination of a stupidly powerful Pro Tools system, buckets of industry standard analogue outboard, world class acoustics, completely redesigned full-range 5.1 monitoring, a line of sight vocal booth, remote machine room, forty three thousand plug-ins, 24 fader Pro Control and Edit Pack, a projector and the famous Strongroom vibe might just be a winning combination. And so Studio 2 was created..
Dubbed 'The most advanced, most powerful, most versatile mix room in Europe' Studio 2 really is THE room for everything from recording and mixing in stereo for CD through to 5.1-to-picture mixing for DVD we combine the best of Pro Tools and the best of analogue. If your preference is Logic then version 7 Pro, combined with our large selection of soft synths, make this an ideal room for writing and production sessions.
A blazingly fast computer (Apple G5 Dual 2 GHz) and a massive new Pro Tools HD4 Accel system live silently in the machine room. Automatic delay compensation for phase perfect mixing, a 48 bit clean mixer and more DSP than you'd ever consider using is available to run all the latest plug-ins like the Sony bus compressor, Oxford and Massenburg Eqs, 27 Bombfactory Plug-ins, Eventide H910s, Altiverb and ReVibe room simulators, all the McDSP stuff, Waves Platinum and 360 bundles, the Emagic EPIC TDM bundle - the list goes on and on See 'equipment' for full list.
A purpose designed patchbay integrates Studio 2's collection of outboard into the Pro Tools mixer - instantly, via the click of a mouse (no patch cords necessary). The concept is that all the standard outboard kit, like GML / Uries / API / SSL etc, can be called up on the mixer as if they were a plug-in. See ‘equipment’ for full list.
If you want to combine the speed, efficiency and creativity of plug-ins and Pro Tools with the classic sounds of established outboard equipment in a purpose built, world class room, then studio 2 will suit your project. Equally at home in surround or stereo, we believe this is one of the best sounding most versatile, and fun to use studios you’ll find anywhere. |

For the SSL devotee, Strongroom 3's combination of 4000 series G+ console, Boxer monitoring and Jamie Reid visuals makes it the most exciting SSL room in the world. The studio combines practicality, inspiration and style.
A superb mixing environment, the control room has a large complement of outboard equipment and the live room is perfect for track laying, with an area of slate floor and angled slate on the walls providing a uniquely vibrant controlled recording area.
The latest in oxygen-free copper cabling is installed throughout the studio and, as in Strongrooms 1 and 2, there is a highly developed patching system allowing for easy control of any number of Pro Tools systems and multitracks in the separate machine room.
Strongroom 3 completes our hat-trick of world-leading consoles with an SSL 4000 G+ with Ultimation and Total Recall, satisfying an undying demand for this classic desk.
Strongrooms' G+ features SSL's moving fader system and is, furthermore, SSL's best sounding 4000 range console, with major improvements in the mic/line and the mix buss amps to provide a much purer signal path.
The Boxer 5 monitors are the same as in Strongroom 1, but are hand-painted by Jamie Reid to blend in with the studios' interior with stunning effect. The system is lined up with extreme accuracy and is regularly checked to provide the client with an accurate sound that's easy to work with and which truly reflects the mix when listened to outside the studio.
Strongroom 3 has attracted many top clients over the years, producing some of the Uk's most acclaimed albums and proving its popularity across a range of styles from guitar bands, dance |

studio 4 |

Strongroom 4 is unique, providing an all-in-one room for any project at any stage, particularly for those working to a tight budget or a hectic schedule.
Our wealth of experience with pre-production rooms has gone into a studio which provides a creatively inspiring and technically excellent environment in which to write, record, program and mix.
Built to the same technical standards as the larger studios, Strongroom 4 has loads of natural light and a live room big enough for a drum kit and then some.
Featuring a Mackie 56, a Pro Tools MixPlus system and ProControl, the desk area has been specifically designed with ProControl sitting in the centre of the Mackie in the ideal listening position. We have also fitted 17" flat panel screens on Ergotron arms to allow for the perfect visual placement.
Strongroom 4 features Genelec 1032A monitors and Yamaha NS10's with a Bryston amp and boasts an impressive array of outboard equipment and synths including Roland Jupiter 8, Juno 60, 1080 and two original Mini Moogs.
Strongroom's usual attention to detail has been shown here, with the entire studio wired to a bantam patchbay and with the Pro Tools housed in a dedicated machine room. Equipment brought in by the client can easily be set up alongside our already extensive range.
Strongroom 4 is the ideal place to start a project and, with all of Strongroom's other advantages on the doorstep, provides the ideal solution for longer and low budget projects. |

With the increasing importance of Pro Tools in music production, Strongroom Five is a specially designed ProControl studio. Featuring a 24 Fader ProControl with Edit Pack and AVXL (Avid compatible Pro Tools picture option for video recording / playback), the studio has been custom built to allow full control over Pro Tools in a professional listening environment.
Equipped with a massive amount of DSP (HD 3 or mix cubed + extra mix farm), the room comes with a vast array of authorised plug-ins and can be configured with a variety of converters. The room can also be equipped with one of our Pro Tools HD systems for those wishing to benefit from 128 tracks of playback or mix at sample rates up to 192K for DVD-A or SACD projects.
Furthermore the room has the versatility to run another multitrack live, eg Radar, as well as MIDI sound sources, and to mix it all in Pro Tools software. The ProControl provides a sophisticated yet uncluttered mixing and editing surface for those who prefer a hands-on approach over keyboard and mouse.
ProControl and Pro Tools training can be provided by Rob Kelly, previously product specialist for Digidesign UK, and now part of the highly experienced Strongroom support team. Equally at home with post production or music projects, we're confident our technical team have more Pro Tools practical experience than you'll find at any other facility. They're available, 24 hours a day, to ensure your session runs smoothly and efficiently. The room also comes with one of our highly trained, Pro Tools-savvy assistants.
Strongroom Five's Pro Tools system is situated in a separate machine room and the control room's flexible Genelec 1031 monitoring can be used for both 5.1 and stereo work. The motorized joysticks in the Edit Pack provide fast and accurate control for surround sound panning, making the room a popular choice for DVD and film mixing projects. |
