Paul Cheneour: English flautist/composer, trained at the Guildhall School of Music London under professor Rainer Schuelein and has, for over 33 years since then, played, composed, taught, and run courses and master-classes in England, Europe, Mexico, and Greece. With 29 Cd albums, 3 major films, winning an EMMA award in 1997, 4 videos and 2 documentaries to his credit. For the last 4 years; he lived in Mexico on the Mexico/ USA border and wrote 10 albums with American guitarist Kevin Sterchi, published by Northstar Music UK. He was 1st flute in the Staccato Ensemble of Reynosa and co-founder of 7Changes and Inner Silence in Monterrey as well as being a regular featured soloist at the Bebop jazz club. Paul returned to the UK in Dec 2004, formed the New Indo-Jazz Fusion band PC’s Sweet Kafka and was, voted No 74 in 100 best jazz flautists of all time by the readers of www.digitaldreamdoor.com in 2005

His own jazz quartet Cheneour (Flutes, Keyboards, Bass and Drums) started in '83 and among their many concerts, including The Edinburgh Festival, London's Festival Hall and Barbican Centres, they were invited to play for the, NSPCC organised, UK Royal Film Premier of Woody Allen’s Radio Days in the Odeon Cinema Haymarket and Dorchester Hotel London, which was broadcast on TVAM and GOODMORNING GREAT BRITAIN the following day. They played and toured the UK, Europe and Middle East, to critical acclaim for 12 years.

Paul feels his music tells a story and the cds recorded in '98 include This Being Human poems and stories of Rumi, the 13th century Sufi poet, with spontaneous music and 2 storytellers. The project was awarded an A4E (Arts Council of England) grant. Then he collaborated with Bangladesh Tabla player Dilly Meah making the cd and video Dance in the Fire. In ‘2000 Paul and Dominic Glynn formed the groundbreaking cybajaz recording” The Devil is an Idiot” cd featuring Dom’s electronic wizardry and Paul’s concert, alto, bass and new Arab Ney flutes and piano. It was released in 2001, received excellent airplay, jazz chart placing and outstanding reviews.

Paul has also recorded music for films, videos and documentaries, including' Return of the Unicorn' and' Ancient Tides’ for the Discovery Channel. The film' 6th Happiness’ premiered at London’s 41st film festival and winning an EMA award for best picture in ’97 and also played flutes for the film Hideous Kinky starring Kate Winslet.

Paul is available for session work, his recent credits include all the Ney flute parts for Debbie Molison composer of the music for the BBC2 6 part series Egyptian Journeys by Dan Cruickshank.
