Born in a Barn Recording Studio Coventry

Welcome to Born in a Barn Studio. Established in 1996 Born in a Barn Studio is situated inside the old milking parlour of Mobbs Wood Farm, Ansty. A quaint country village just by Coventry.

The studio has been built up over several testing years. The premises were first found and developed in 1996, when relocation of the previous local city studio was forced (due to the building being demolished!) and was originally just 2 rooms.

During Spring 2001, having visited a variety of studios and talked to many artists, further refurbishments were made and a comfortable, professional but fun place to be was re-designed, now comprising 5 rooms.

In the interim periods the studio has been hired as a project studio both long & short term but is now fully open again and has been extensively equipped with state of the art Digital Hardware including Digidesign and Focusrite. An Apple Power Mac G5 dual 1.8GHz, sits at the hub, running Pro Tools software attracting customers from Birmingham, London, Manchester, Leicester, Wales & Scotland.

Come Play in the Country !! We look forward to seeing you soon.

BB Studio's Live Room is bigger by design and boasts the original beams and parlour step! With 30 square metres of floor space (2.85 metres in height) we have recorded groups of 8 members and even small choirs.

This spacious room has a versatile 24pc drum kit, powerful PA, valvestate bass amp & lots of percussion instruments for your amusement. Our professional sound isolation equipment aids what has been described as a 'lovely, warm, acoustically dead room'.

Clear Sonic Screening providing perfect isolation/boothing necessary for your acoustic separation. There's also some lighting equipment so you can create your own vibe during live recordings!

Facilities

Chill zone and accommodation
After many trips to recording studios ourselves it became quite obvious that a place to sleep is enormously helpful to a hard working band - especially if they're from out of town.

Our chill zone can comfortably accommodate 6 people. It's upstairs out of the way and a perfect place to get your head down during those long recording sessions (or while the lead guitarists' on their 30th solo take!) This area also doubles as a games room with Nintendo and Playstation games consoles, TV, board games and loads of cushions. It's an ideal place to get away from the crowd in those moments of despair!

The chill zone helps keep your recording costs low and takes away the hassle of finding accommodation elsewhere. Just remember to bring your own sleeping bags and bedding.

Food & Drink
For those of you with healthy appetites or a talent in the kitchen there is a handy Whirlpool microwave combi-oven, drinks fridge/freezer and food preparation area.Free filter coffee is available during most sessions. Making coffee for your engineer will help keep him in the chair! There's also some comfy seating and a piano for idle composing or just to vent your frustrations!
