Over the years, Far Heath has played host to numerous bands such as the Prodigy, Spiritualized and the Fall. The studio has been the epicentre for groups and labels such as Creation, Polydor, Beggars Banquet, and Fierce Panda.

An eclectic array of musical styles has been created at Far Heath with its various live rooms, recording areas, and large microphone collection. It is capable and accomplished in recording all genres of live music – dance music has also regularly played a part in the history of Far Heath Studios with remix credits that include the Stranglers and Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Recording / Tracking

Using the quality of Pro Tools HD you can achieve exceptional quality recordings, but here at Far Heath we blend the high end technology with valve technology to give your recordings the warmth and character that people so often miss in the digital age.

Mixing

The control room has been acoustically designed by David Bell from White Mark Ltd. His company has previously designed acoustics for the Hit Factory in New York and the Strongroom in London.

Sound Design / Music Composition

We are expert in audio post production, and produce sound for TV, film and multimedia. Our creative knowledge can help you set the sound of your production in minutes.

For our clients we use a huge online database that includes more than 100,000 different sound effects. All major libraries are present, including our own custom made libraries.

We have extensive knowledge of the film and advertising industry having worked on numerous productions for VW, Audi, Seat and the award winning commercial Habitat for Humanity.

Mastering

Experienced ears are everything. Sophisticated audio preparation for CD duplication performed in Pro Tools with 24 bit resolution using state of the art external analogue and digital signal processors. Attention to gain maximizing of tracks, equalizing of relative volumes between songs and various other processing, including necessary subcode information for replication.

Engineering / Production

Chief Engineer is Angus Wallace. Angus founded Far Heath Studios in 1987, having studied Audio Engineering and Production in London. Since then he and the other experienced sound engineers at Far Heath have been recording and producing bands such as the Prodigy, Spiritualized, the Fall, Love and Rockets and Natacha Atlas / Trans-global Undergaround. In 1992 Angus was awarded the Ampex Golden Reel Award and in 1998, a gold disc for his engineering skills on three Fall albums. In 2000 Angus pushed his knowledge of all things audio further by obtaining a masters degree in Sound Design. An excellent programmer, arranger and mixer, he has also been involved in co-writing with various artists, the most succesful being Wishbone Ash.
