Miloco 1 (The Neve Room) and Miloco 2 (The Toyshop) |
|
Miloco One is the Neve VR Room. This is our flagship mix studio. The combination of the Neve VR60, customised Munro M4 speakers and a variety of nearfield monitors make this one of the most accurate monitoring environments in the country.
Add to this our vast array of outboard and a 32-output Protools HD system and you can see we have the technology to compete with any other top mixing studio - and at a competitive price. But don't just take our word for it - artists from Oasis to Rachel Stevens, as well as regular clients The Chemical Brothers, have all produced hit records here.
Miloco 2 is The Toyshop. It might be the smallest of our studios, but it packs a punch. Throughout the 80s and 90s this studio was one of the busiest programming rooms in town and bands such as The Chemical Brothers started their career here. In 2004 we relocated the studio to its present home, transforming it into a large day-lit suite.

|
Miloco 1 The Neve Room |
|
The Neve Room lives in a totally air-conditioned sound-proofed environment and consists of a 400 sq ft control room with natural daylight and a 640 sq ft live room with large isolation booth.
The impeccable monitoring is the main focus of the room and the customised Munro M4's are regularly aligned and checked by Nick Whitaker. As well as these large quality monitors, clients can choose from a variety of Yamaha NS10's, Adam S3A's and Genelec 1031's. In short, we believe we have the perfect sonic arsenal to mix your records. The studio is already home to a host of top engineers and producers such as Steve 'Dub' Jones, Ben Hillier and Colin Richardson, as well as artists such as The Chemical Brothers. The combination of the Neve VR60, Protools HD rig and large outboard rig make this room one of the best mixing environments in the country.
The Control Room is day-lit and has a direct view into the live room. The outboard is situated in a large rack behind the mixing console and contains many of the toys you would expect in a top mixing room. In addition to Massenberg, Focusrite, EAR, Summit, Tubetech and Lexicon we also boast a range of other intriguing and dynamic units such as the Moog 12 Stage Phaser and the Marshall Time Modulator.
Behind the large collection of outboard is a raised work surface for Protools operation or the storage of alternate equipment. At the rear of the control room we've a large and luscious sofa to relax on, our fantastic sounding Ampex 1/2" machine and our top of the range HD3 Protools rig. The rig comes loaded with all the latest plug-ins and with 16 inputs and 32 outputs as standard. However, if you still wish to record on to 2", we've also got an Otari MTR90 - guaranteed to satisfy all your analogue cravings.
Although this studio is primarily used as our top of the range mix room it is also a fully operable and superb recording environment. The live room and isolation booth cater comfortably for a band and the acoustics can be both tight and lively, varied via large screens. There's a broad and varied microphone collection featuring some lovely valve microphones from Neve and AKG, and we also provide a range of instruments and equipment that includes: a Yamaha Baby Grand Piano, a HiWatt head and Marshall Cabinet, a Hammond and also a Leslie, while other delights - such as Wurlitzers and Rhodes - can often be sourced from our other rooms.

Miloco Two is The Toyshop. It might be the smallest of our studios, but it packs a punch. Throughout the 80s and 90s this studio was one of the busiest programming rooms in town and bands such as The Chemical Brothers started their career here. In 2004 we relocated the studio to its present home, transforming it into a large day-lit suite.
The studio is based around a DDA console with NS10s and Genelec 1031s for monitoring. Recording is via either Protools or Logic Pro, there is a large collection of analogue synths (including Minimoog and Korg MS20) to help with those retro sounds, and there's a great selection of outboard for vocaling or overdubbing.
|
|
The Toyshop Studio |
|
The Toyshop nestles on the first floor of our Leroy Street complex and consists of a 325 sq ft air-conditioned control room with daylight on all sides along with a 36 sq ft vocal booth, again day-lit.
When designing this space our aim was to create a programming room with maximum comfort and an abundance of the kind of tools, effects and toys artists like to have at their disposal. And we (and our clients) believe we've succeeded. The room is based around a DDA console and a 24-output Protools rig that can run both Protools or Logic, depending on your needs. Monitoring is via either NS10's or Genelec 1031's and the room itself is an excellent size, benefits from daylight streaming in on two sides, while it's stylish layout includes a vocal booth situated at one end and plenty of space in which to relax, spread out and feel at home.
To the left and right of the console are large work surfaces perfect for the setting up of turntables or any of the superb analogue keyboards that we offer. The outboard is selected to cover all your tracking needs and includes many top brands including SSL and Neve.
At the rear of the control room there is a cosy sofa looking directly into the day-lit vocal booth, (which has the added bonus of being able to use the wondrous selection of microphones from our Neve VR Room). There is also a desirable selection of analogue toys on hand including a Minimoog, Korg MS20, Yamaha CS5 and Roland 808 to cater to all your retro requirements.
In addition to all this, a wide selection of other instruments, including Wurlitzer and Rhodes, can often be sourced from our other well-stocked rooms. In short, this studio offers the perfect creative atmosphere for starting or finishing your chart-bound project. Finally, we also offer a cool recreation area with pool table, table football, Sky TV and a Sony Playstation while wireless broadband is available throughout the complex. |
