Miloco Three is located off a delightfully secluded courtyard hidden right in the heart of Hoxton. The studio features a 400 sq ft day-lit air-conditioned control room, while our 430 sq ft live room boasts both a dead and a live area to ensure all your aural options are catered for. The Square was the original Milo recording studios opened by Henry Crallan and John Deacon in the early 1980s. It was built in the days before Hoxton Square became the buzzing place it is today (and we, of course, are firmly of the opinion that Milo's arrival was the catalyst for this excellent redevelopment...).
Over the years the studio has been graced by many big names including Marc Almond, Bjork, M-People and The Brand New Heavies, and its quality reputation continues to lure today's latest bands, with the likes of Glitterati, Razorlight, Sixth and Kasabian all recording here.
The Control Room is a wonderfully large and relaxing space that looks directly into the live area and booth. It features the Amek 2520 - a versatile budget-price tracking and mixing console - now combined with a state-of-the-art Protools HD2 Accel system with 16 inputs and 24 outputs. Meanwhile, for all those analogue fans, you can record onto our superb Otari MTR90 MkII 2". The monitoring is based around the newly installed ATC SCM200s (set up by master acoustician Nick Whitaker), and for nearfield monitoring there's a choice of NS10's or Genelec 1031's.
To the left of the console is a large selection of quality outboard that includes the likes of AMS, Lexicon, Summit and Neve, as well as some rarities from Altec, Ursa Major and API. Add to that our extensive selection of microphones and you'll see how this room is an ideal environment for the recording of bands, strings and vocals alike. And finally, should you be in need of distraction, there's also a broadband computer set up for all your planet-wide surfing needs.
The live room is accessed directly from the control room and consists of a large live area and a booth to the left. The room consists of a wooden floor and wooden ceiling, while the surrounding walls are made up of a number of large mirrors interspersed with dry fabric. The room is therefore perfect for achieving an exquisite dry sound, but should you want things a little brighter it also has a stone floor at one end to add a little sparkle to recordings. The booth is large enough to house a small kit, and if separation is needed for an amplifier there is a cupboard which can be utilised. Add to this a selection of instruments such as a Hammond and Leslie and a Korg CX3 and we have a perfect tracking environment.
Finally, clients can relax with Sky TV or pop out to one of the many bars and restaurants in the area. The studio has been going for 20 years and has a client list that features the like of: Bloc Party, DJ Shadow, Richard X, Ash, Bjork, Beth Orton, Liberty X, David Sylvian, Erlend Oye, Annie, Howie B, Jessica Lauren, Kasabian, Kathryn Williams, Rachel Stevens, Luke Haines, Razorlight, Rodney P, The Glitterati, Thee Unstrung and many, many more so why not add your name to the roll-call of this illustrious institution.
