Live Room

Our large live room (23 by 20 feet) can acommodate large groups of musicians. The acoustics in this room are world class and this really makes a difference to the recording. In the lively end of the room drums sound huge and vibrant and the dead end provides a more intimate sound. The room is fully isolated from the control room and the outside world and features a floating, wood floor, fresh air replacement and views of both the isolation booth and the control room.

Isolation Booth
The booth has been designed to be acoustically dead and is mainly used for vocals, it measures 10 by 6 feet and features a floating, wood floor and views of both the control room and the live room.

Artists' Lounge
To ensure maximum comfort, our clients can have full use of our lounge area. The lounge features a fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave and kettle. Also included is a full size pool table and games console.

mastering

The difference between a demo and a record! Ever wondered why your demo doesn’t sound as good as a commercial CD? Can’t understand why your CD is much quieter? This is because you need to get your CD professionally mastered. At The Parlour we can turn your demo into a more polished, commercial sounding record. This is done using subtle EQ, compression and limiting. We use the finest quality hardware to create a polished sound. We use a CraneSong HEDD for it’s world-class D/A and A/D. The HEDD also has a superb tape emulation function that works wonders on certain program material. It also acts as one of the most transparent limiters available. We also have an Avalon AD2055 mastering equaliser to make sure your CD has a flat frequency response and sounds great on any system. When you record at home your acoustics and monitors may not be up to scratch and you may make wrong decisions. We monitor on very high quality monitors in an acoustically-treated room and can make our EQ decisions with confidence. We also use an SPL Kultube valve compressor. We can use this to compress your audio to make it louder and more exciting. The Kultube can go from transparent to dirty and in-your-face depending on the material.

Once your audio is sounding as good as it can we will burn a Red Book CD with ISRC codes and also print off a PQ sheet (required by duplication companies). We will master your own CD's for £25 per song or £200 per album (max 10 Songs). Just mail us the unprocessed files on CD and we will mail you back the mastered version.

Our Karaoke service lets you sing your favourite songs over a pre-recorded backing track. We have access to thousands of backing tracks for you to choose from. Whether you need a demo of your voice to further your career or just a bit of fun, a karaoke session at Parlour will help you sound your best.

What's involved?
Give us a call to book your session and decide which backing tracks you require. If we don't have the tracks in stock we can buy them in for you. After the backing tracks are transferred to our system you can record your vocals. Don't worry if you don't get it right first time, we can do it again until you are happy. Once all the recording is done we will professionally mix your song and make you sound fantastic.
